Brow FAQ
How Long Does Permanent Makeup Last?– Retention varies by person and depends on the technique used, your skin type, and aftercare. Microblading typically needs to be touched up every 1-2 years, while powder brow clients can usually go 2-3 years between touchups. Clients with oily skin usually need more frequent touchups than those with normal/dry skin.
Does it Hurt? – Pain tolerance varies, but most people describe the sensation as mild discomfort. Topical numbing creams are used to minimize any potential pain.
What is the Recovery Process Like? – Your new brows will take approximately 30 days to completely heal. In the first 24 hours, there may be some slight swelling and redness around the brow area. For the first few days brows will appear darker than desired, but they will heal around 30% lighter than the initial color. After the first few days it is normal to have some light peeling/flaking as your brows heal and settle into their final color.
How Long Does It Take? – Most initial brow appointments take 2.5-3 hours including consultation, numbing, and the permanent makeup procedure. Touchups take 1.5 hours on average, depending on how much work is needed.
Is Permanent Makeup Like a Tattoo? – Yes and no. Pigment is implanted into the skin, similarly to the way a tattoo is done, but microblading and powder brows do not penetrate the skin as deeply as a tattoo, which is why they need to be touched up more frequently.
